Last January, we sold our beautiful bar-height kitchen table because we thought it was too big for us and too big for the space. So we were left without a table for awhile, and we were about to have a baby! And since I was in full “nesting” mode, I really wanted to get a kitchen table to make the space look complete.
So we bought this little brown table from Wayfair… It’s SO small! But at least we had a place to sit and eat, right?! (And yes, I am aware that there are only three chairs… the other one recently got ruined with paint… long story.)
Ever since we got this table, put it together, and saw how small it really was, I’ve wanted to try to fix it up and make it my own. But I didn’t want to spend tons of money. I would see pictures of farmhouse tables all over the place and loved the look of them. So about a month ago, we finally went to Lowe’s and got some materials, and decided to give it our best shot!
We bought 5 pieces of wood, and my husband cut them to the length we needed. We ended up with 7 pieces total. Once we had them where they needed to be, Stephen drilled screws into each piece of wood to secure them to the table. Then we filled in the spots where the screws are with wood putty and sanded everything down.
The wood hangs over the original table about 4.5″ all the way around which gave us a MUCH bigger table than we had before.
Then came the fun part – STAINING! (We used a mixture of two stains.)
Lastly, I painted the legs white, and distressed them.
I could not be happier with the way it turned out, and it looks SO good in this space!
I think we spent about $30 total on this, and it makes our dining room look so home-y. We just need to get chairs now!
